Local insurance broker goes global

One of the best-known trade names in the region, Charles Newman Co., joined The Hib group, a leading property and casualty insurance and employee benefits brokerage and advisory firm headquartered in richmond, Virginia. Hilb Group is a holding company of a global investment company The Carlyle Group.

Situated at a look, Charles Newman Co. is a licensed, full-service broker that offers its clients a wide range of products and offerings, including group health, as well as ancillary and voluntary benefits coverage. Charles Newman, Ilana Arbeit, David Arbert, and their team of insurance professionals have joined the Hilb Group’s tri-state regional operations.


The Newman Company. moved its offices in March to The hat factory to No. Division Street, from its current downtown location on south street.

Newman, who started in sales with his father’s company, Hudson River Boat Sales, has been in sales for 45 years, 30 of them in the insurance business.
